Ynys Môn

© Croeso Cymru / Visit Wales

Wide and bare and wild

is the land I've known

for forty years:

Its fields draped

on ancient island rock

of glinting grey

like an old piece of cloth, faded

grey-green:

Old with a thousand wearings,

worn thin in mist and wind.

Falling into folds in soft

familiar ways,

This treasured cloth is

as soft and rare,

as wild and bare,

as the frailest veil

wedding realms of sea and sky

and rock.
